There are about 85000 prisoners in United Kingdom and in Lithuania there are about11000prisoners. However in UK there are 160 jails, in Lithunia is only one real jail and quite a lot corectional institutions.
After trial person who was sentenced to inprisonment are send in prison. In both countries that person at first must pass through the reception, whitch is responsible for checking identities and monitoring numbers. In the United kingdom prisoners must wear special clotches and in Lithuania they wear casual clothes.
On special period- called quarantine, new arrivals are seen by a nurse to check they helth or drug adiction. After that they are divided in groups.
In both cuontries a typical wing of prison has cells, dormitories, showers and food servey. Each cell has toilet. In UK very important part takes exercises. Prisons has new equipment, in exercising area exercises prisons and officers together.
In prison inmates can also get education. In both these countries they can graduate school, also get profesional or higher education.
One of biggests problems In UK`s and Lithuania`s prisons is the lack of staff. This is becuase their worrk is invisible, people do not understand that their job are very importan, also very difficult and dangerous. The number of inmates are growwing and there are less snd less staff to look after them. The majority of problems are bullying and self harm, inmates do what they want, there are to less discipline.
To sum ap I want to say that there are a lot of similarities in United Kingdom and in our coutry. There are similar condiotionals of inmates life and work of officers are similar too. In both countries there are existing a lot of problems in prisons and need a lot of time to solve them.
